Hawaii holds a very special place in our hearts. And we are fortunate enough to go with our families annually. Our grandparents have been taking us since we were toddlers! This spicy salmon poke bowl combines the love our family has for fishing, and our travels to Hawaii. In Hawaii, poke is typically made with ahi tuna because it is local to that region. When we go out fishing in the bay, we tend to catch salmon. So why not make this dish with freshly caught fish?! Spicy salmon poke bowl is one of our favorites; filled with brown rice, loaded with fresh veggies, and a spicy mayo drizzle.
INGREDIENTS :
salmon :
spicy mayo :
toppings :
Cook the rice according to packaged instructions and set aside. While the rice is cooking, make the marinate for the salmon by adding tamari, rice wine vinegar, honey, sesame oil, ginger, sesame seeds, green onion, red chili flakes, orange juice, and orange zest to a large bowl. Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Cut the salmon filet into half an inch cubes and place in the bowl of marinate. Mix thoroughly to make sure all pieces of salmon are covered in the marinate. Cover and place the bowl in the fridge for 30 minutes.
To make the spicy mayo add mayo, chili oil, hot sauce, and lime juice in a medium size bowl. Mix until ingredients are thoroughly combined. Set aside.
To assemble the poke bowl, place a few spoonfuls of rice into a desired bowl. Then add the marinated salmon and top with cucumber, avocado, mango, radishes, bean sprouts, and edamame. Drizzle with spicy mayo and a sprinkle of furikake. Buon Appetito!

Poke bowls can be eaten with a fork or chopsticks. We love using chopsticks, because it encourages smaller bites and to eat at a slower pace; better for digestion and intentional eating. Try using chopsticks next time you have a poke bowl in hand!
