how to make raspberry rhubarb whiskey sour

INGREDIENTS :

rhubarb simple syrup :

  • 2 C rhubarb, chopped 
  • 1 C water 
  • 1 C sugar

cocktail :

  • 2 oz bourbon or whiskey 
  • 1 oz rhubarb simple syrup 
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice 
  • 1 egg white 
  • 2 – 3 raspberries 
  • freeze dried blueberries, microplaned for garnish 

METHOD : 

To make the rhubarb simple syrup, combine all ingredients into a medium saucepan. Bring ingredients to a boil, then lower heat to a simmer. Simmer syrup for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool, then strain out solids.

In a cocktail shaker, add lemon juice and egg white. Shake vigorously without ice for ten seconds. Add raspberries and muddle. Next add the whiskey and rhubarb simple syrup with ice. Shake until chilled. Double strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with freeze dried blueberries.
